Ninth Wave Gin

In Irish mythology, a mystical place lies beyond the Coast of Ireland, far out across the sea. Said to be the home of the Irish Sea God ‘Mac Lir’, these mystical islands, known as the ‘Otherworld’, are invisible to the naked human eye, devoid of sickness and death, and a place of eternal youth and beauty. One only reaches these islands by conquering the Ninth Wave, the greatest of all waves and the barrier that separates the Earthly world from the Otherworld.

Joseph Cartron Violette

The use of Violets can be traced right up to Antiquity. As goes the story the god Vulcan, wishing to please to Venus, crowned himself with Violets. Bewitched by the captivating perfume, she was unable to resist him. Violets were then employed to heal breathing problems before being used for perfume during the Middle Ages. Today Joseph Cartron imports the Violets from Egypt where all the care brought to their growth guarantees a product of very great quality. Like all the most precious perfumes, Joseph Cartron’s Liqueur de Violette is elaborated from Violet Absolute, obtained by grinding the best leaves. A light note of flower is added to this concentrate of aromas in order to perfect this mixture. Of astonishing freshness, this liqueur evokes the soft perfume both floral, fruity and powdery of the sweets of our childhood.

Joseph Cartron Vanille

The Spanish discovered Vanilla in America early in the XVIth century and brought it back to Europe where it was extremely appreciated espe- cially under the reign of Louis XIV. In order to obtain pods rich in aroma, the production of this thousands of years’ old spice requires constant care which makes it one of the most expensive food product in the world. The Vanilla we select comes from the best farms in Madagascar, country renowned for the excellence of its production. The pods brimming with perfume bring power of taste, blandness and roundness to Joseph Cartron’s Vanilla Liqueur – token of the best of cocktails.

Joseph Cartron Triple

Joseph Cartron’s Triple Sec Curaçao is made from the essential oils of the sweet orange (Para variety from Brazil and Florida) and bitter oranges (Bigarade from the Ivory Coast and Sicily), all selected from the best fruit farms. Only the core of the peel is kept in the processing of these essential oils, the bitter white skins are meticulously discarded. The harmonious blending of the two varieties of fruit as well as the traditional character of this recipe ensure an extreme concentration of spirit of orange of a rare intensity. The singular flavour of bitter orange is perfectly restored.

Joseph Cartron The

Mate, from South America, is considered to be a Green Tea. But in fact, the plant used, the Yerba Mate, is not a tea shrub but a shrub of the holly family. Mate, was originally drunk in a calabash, passed from hand to hand as a strong symbol of south-american hospitality. It is also called «Jesuists’ Tea» in reference to their presence in Paraguay during the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. This important Jesuit mission indeed largely contributed to the development and expansion of Mate growing in Uruguay, Chili, Bolivia, in South Brazil and in Argentina where it is still cultivated today. The variety carefully selected by Joseph Cartron comes from Argentina. In order to obtain the best tea, the leaves are roasted and ground before use. Very close to the real flavour of a beautiful Green Tea, the Joseph Cartron Green Mate Tea Liqueur develops a good chlorophyll freshness as well as a fine and elegant vegetal softness.

Joseph Cartron The

Rooibos from South Africa. Slightly fermented leaves selected as it is the case for a traditional tea. Its round and generous flavour combines with a beautifully sunny fruitiness and a soft vanilla flavour.

Joseph Cartron Thé

Rooibos Tea is indifferent to ‘appellations’ and plays with its real identity. In fact, this «Tea», theine free, is only a far-off botanical cousin of the traditional tea shrubs cultivated for their precious leaves. In fact it concerns a shrub that grows excusively in South Africa and more precisely in the area north of Cape Town. Its playing ground is so particular that all the efforts to grow it elsewhere have failed. The Rooibos confuses the issue because it is also called Red Tea, with reference to the colour of its bark. Only this part of the shrub is used to make the tea. The quality selected for the production of the Joseph Cartron Rooibos Tea Liqueur is only the best of the bark, that is slightly fermented as it is the case for a traditional tea. Its round and generous flavour combines with a beautifully sunny fruitiness and a soft vanilla flavour. Thus Joseph Cartron restitutes all the taste qualities of the Rooibos Tea in a liqueur both noble and original.

Joseph Cartron Sureau

Since antiquity, the medical virtues of Elderberry were widely recognized in the Western world then in the East where the plant was used both for its clusters of dark berries, its white flowers, its leaves and even its bark. No doubt the flowers are the most aromatic part of the plant and they enter into the composition of the extract used to create the Joseph Cartron Liqueur. Selected in Austria and Hungary where the quality of their production is optimum, their scented flowers confer their fruity and agreably tart notes to the liqueur, as well as their fresh, greedy and delicately floral character.

Joseph Cartron Prunelle

The ‘prunelle’ (wild sloe) is a small violet-coloured sloe which only grows wild. When fully ripe, the sloe turns black and shiny and is harvested after the first frosts in the countryside of the West European countries. Only the stones are used to produce Joseph Cartron’s Prunelle Liqueur, the elegant taste of their almonds is the signature of its typical character. Slow maceration together with the quality of Joseph Cartron’s recipe captures all the most particular flavour of the sloe. The softness of the stones brings all its authenticity and finesse to this traditional Burgundian liqueur.

Joseph Cartron Pasteque

Grown in hot climate countries, the production of watermelon is recorded in ancient Egypt and thereafter spread to all the Mediterranean. Watermelon is synonymous of summer, freshness and immediately reminds one of ones childhood and the pleasure of biting into its red and juicy flesh. Slow maceration of the flesh of the fruits together with the quality of our original recipe brings to Joseph Cartron’s Watermelon liqueur its beautiful pink fuschia colour and its soft and original flavour.

Joseph Cartron Pamplemousse

The taste of pink grapefruit is very sophisticated, a subtle mixture of refreshing sweetness and sourness. The fruits that make up the juices used to produce Joseph Cartron’s Pink Grapefruit Liqueur undergo an extremely strict selection: they come from the best orchards of Israël and Florida where they burst with sunshine and sugar. The quality of the fruits and the recipe bring all the flavour, aroma and beauti- ful colour of the pink grapefruit to this refined liqueur, very long in mouth.

Joseph Cartron NO.

Cartron has been a family business since 1882, with strong roots in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges at the heart of Burgundy’s cru vineyards. The soil of this region has been producing high quality fruit for centuries, which for have been used in the production of Burgundy wines, or fruits to produce juices, liqueurs and fruit brandies.
